Routine

today being stoned is a way of life
as crippling as television& Mormons
or celebrity worship & the 9 to 5 dead end…
(it’s a job with no benefit during recession)
Im livin check to check &
There is only 1 sign of release.

Until 5 o’clock
When I go home& exhale
Such a relief.
To let the demons billow
From out of me.
Until rents almost due
And the weed runs out
And the 9 to 5 is calling…
And my stomach aches
But the doctor won’t let me pay him with kindness
So I dull the pain w/
A joint or two until
I am high enough to no longer care
That the 9 to 5 is
for the stable of mind
and that young & old poets belong
elsewhere.
