Chiaroscuro
Chiaroscuro
If I loved you any deeper it would be subterranean
as magma loves deep igneous-
crashing into it, Fusing like mercury
creating new lava.
Fused as bedrock to ancient fossils
Bone to sinew-Fused.
My hands to the small of your back, Fused
resting in that gentle contour, a child cradled.
If I loved you any deeper it would be Desperate
It would be Stealing
be Craving for a fix-
Killing for a taste
Murdering for moments alone
Dying for post-coital imagery as
intense as your beloved doves
with feathers the Color of earth and sky
Clay feathers, Ink blot-blue detailing
Cooing me with carnal bird songs.
If I loved you any deeper it would be from beyond me
&cost the Energy of a dying Sun
to add illumination, to the Shine
your two orbits cast on my Universe.
Two orbits, Green as envy-
Green as chlorophyll trapped in Emeralds
&held to the fire Green.
To be bejeweled: my precarious heart borne from stone,
made precious by your breath.
It would have to be the Darkness,
that is hemmed to your Light.
The constant Pitch to surround your Star.
If I loved you any deeper I would shine,
with the sacred love of You, my angel
who is the profane love of Me, this devil.
Giovanni Baglione love.
Light-Dark play, Chiaroscuro love.
If I loved you any deeper,
I would have to be your Creator
&give birth to You
to justify such obsession and pride in the Eyes
of a pirate.
