&maybe we
can’t be friends,
But how could I say no
It was 1 am
I was 4 drinks in,
Eating a cheap burrito
Subtly, I hid my chagrin,
& thought ‘away we go’
The room started to spin,
Did I mention I was 6 drinks in
The usual rigmarole.
A classic symptom of intoxication,
you know I drink and such
The situation, full of complication
I’m just a man needing your touch.
It wasn’t the sex;
I can get that from the next
It’s that juicy brain I’m after
The drinker’s rush-
my isolation hushed
Pages turn,
but no new chapter.
& yeah it’s strange,
To think I could have such range
‘I love You’,
Being the universal nomenclature
so maybe those words
Sink your ship like icebergs
Because my rough seas
will always be a factor.
