Untitled II

Take the dawn’s first light from me, if you wish,
take the morning’s promise away, take away

The birdsongs, but
do not take from me your laughter.
Do not take from me the rise and fall,
of the words you pluck from the air,
the rhythm that suddenly
bursts forth from you,
the sudden bouquet
of cherry blossoms born in you
That leaves a scent on my heart.

My longing is harsh and I live
with eyes tired
at times from having seen
the unchanging horizon alone,
but when your laughter enters
it floats on the wind, seeking me
and opening the windows
of my solitary life.

It is you I love, in the desperate hours
your laughter promises a new day,
and if unabashedly,
you see my blood staining
the ground along empty streets,
sing, because your voice
will be for my wounds
like the healing hand of God.
